What do you do when you have a bunch of flowerpots and your son's drill that you sort of borrowed?
You drill holes in the bottom for better drainage!
I had 6 pots; this took all day.
Four are from previous years when I lived in New Orleans. I noticed that water never seemed to drain properly. I turned them over and realized that they didn't have drainage holes. The two others are new. I purchased them from Home Depot, they are the Algreen Acerra 12 in. x 20 in. Marble Curved Patio Vase Garden Planter (2-Pack). I got two for about $100 bucks. They only had one drainage hole so I added two more.
I also purchased a couple of concrete planters. I purchased two KANTE
12.9 in. L Charcoal Lightweight Concrete Outdoor Modern Cylindrical Planters, and one KANTE Small 23 in. L Slate Gray Concrete Modern Low Outdoor Planter. They were too thick for me to drill through so they only have their original one drainage holes.
I filled the planters in preparation for flowers and maybe veggies. I'll discuss this process in my next post.
I'm thinking I should go ahead and build a couple of raised beds for the veggies. I think I'll consult with my daughter-in-law, Wynter. She built a beautiful raised bed in her backyard last summer.
