Research teams find widespread inflammation in the brains of fibromyalgia patients Over the past decade, Fibromyalgia research has shown a neurological component. Fibromyalgia is now considered a Central Sensitization disorder. Recent research has demonstrated an inflammation of the brain in some people with Fibromyalgia. Science News reports, "for the first time, widespread inflammation in the brains of people with Fibromyalgia has been documented." [1] Researchers from the study stated, "finding objective neurochemical changes in the brains of patients with fibromyalgia should help reduce the persistent stigma that many patients face, often being told their symptoms are imaginary and there's nothing really wrong with them."
