My granddaughter, Toria, and I made my birthday cake. It's a caramel cake made from scratch. We even cooked the frosting. I think we will tweak the recipe the next we make one.
The cake is moist but is either heavy or has a dry undertone. I don't know how to explain it, the cake is good but something is off.
We used cake flour instead of all purpose flour so that might be it. Also, we were impatience waiting for the frosting to thicken so we added melted butterscotch chips. Yes, the frosting is sooooo sweet. But I'm proud of our first attempt at caramel cake from scratch.
