Today’s instruction ...
stop taking aspirin and begin to fall-proof my home.
The very informative text stated:
To ensure one’s home is fall-proof, make your house as safe and clean as possible by completing at least the following items:
Remove all clutter
Move furniture items to create large walking paths that are easy to navigate
Make sure there are no areas of carpeting sticking up
Move frequently used items you usually store deep in low cupboards or up on high shelves to spots that are easier to reach.
If your bedroom is on the second floor, make a temporary sleeping area on the first floor so you will not have to climb stairs during recovery.
If you have small children or pets, plan for someone to stop by and take care of them during the first week or so post-op.
I don’t take aspirin so no problem. However, ensuring that my home is fall-proof is going to be difficult. I have difficulty picking things up and I’ve been trying to get the Christmas decorations taken down, packaged up and put back in the storage room in the basement. My daughter pulled all the decorations down and brought up most of the storage boxes, not all of them. Ok, I confess, I have A LOT of Christmas decorations. I got most of the decorations boxed up, need the remaining empty containers, but I cannot go up and down the stairs so now the boxes and unboxed decorations are in my way.
I’ve been struggling to get my room post-op ready, but I still have moving boxes in my room. I purchased the house the summer of 2020 and promptly fell and knocked myself out sustaining a concussion. Then in 2021 I ruptured my Achilles tendon. Now I'm beginning 2022 with a hip replacement. I may never get my home as clean and organized as I want it.
