Today’s text instructed me to go out and buy a special antibacterial soap that contains chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) called Hibiclens. I went to CVS because my insurance requires that I use its pharmacy. I’d rather go to Walgreens because all my pharmacist relatives work for that company. Anyway, I approached the CVS pharmacist and showed her the text message and asked if she knew where I could find the soap. She replied, “um, I don’t know but I’ll call someone to look for you.” She called, via the intercom system, for an employee to come help me. I waited for 5 minutes, texted my daughter-in-law (a Walgreens pharmacist) and asked if she knew where I could find the soap. Of course, she replied “at Walgreens” but more importantly, she stated the soap should be in the first aid aisle. Guess where I found the soap. Today's text included a pre-op instruction. Beginning showering with the antibacterial soap 5 days before my surgery and do not use lotion on the side where I will have my surgery.
